The band’s name Il Divo is Italian for “star,” and it’s no wonder why the group has lived up to its namesake. Il Divo was first imagined by music manager and reality TV star Simon Cowell when he thought to create a multinational music group based on legendary opera singers The Three Tenors. Beginning in 2001 Cowell began an international search for talent that lasted for two years before he found his four singers.
